Wallet Security is very crucial for protecting your assets, and making sure you don't face valuable losses. The list below is not extensive, but can be very helpful if you're new to the Web3 space, or if you have basic questions on how to be safer on the internet.

Things you can Do and/or should do:

  • Use a wallet on Pixels that is not connected to any other website

    • This means creating a brand new wallet to use on your Pixels account

      • By doing this, you reduce the risk of your Pixels wallet being compromised if you avoid connecting it to any other website

  • Delegate your wallet to a Pixels-connected wallet so Pixels can view your assets from a wallet that it does not have access to

  • Keep valuable assets on a cold wallet to reduce the risk of your assets and only connect the hot wallet to Pixels

  • Turn DMs off in any server you're involved in

    • This reduces the chance of scammers or other nefarious persons messaging you

  • Keep your private key/seed phrase in a secure location that no one else has access to

  • Always DYOR [Do your own research]. Do your due diligence on any dapps, websites, or files before proceeding.

Things to Avoid doing:

  • Do not click links from unsafe sources

    • Even people you think are trustworthy might be compromised - always verify URLs and make sure you're not signing anything without confirming that everything is legitimate

    • Some websites LOOK legitimate but always confirm with a trustworthy source first [such as a moderator]

  • Do not accept direct messages from players that you do not know

    • Moderators and members of the Pixels Team will NEVER directly message you for support

  • Never share your private key or seed phrase

    • Anyone with access to your private key or seed phrase can take everything on that wallet

    • Members of the Pixels Team will NEVER ask for your private key or seed phrase

  • Do not download strange files if you're unsure of the source or what could be within them

  • Do not connect your wallet to websites without first understanding what you are signing

Remember, if something seems too good to be true, it normally is. Pixels will never do any surprise airdrops or mints, will never contact you directly via Discord to offer support or "free" tokens/assets, and will NEVER ask you for your private key or seed phrase.

If you have been compromised, change your wallets connected to the Pixels website, revoke transactions as quickly as possible, move your assets to a secure wallet, and avoid further interaction with the compromised wallet.

Try to locate the source of the hack, and share that information with the Pixels Support Team or within the Discord!

Stay safe, Pixels fam!
